Any student who has had a new student medical examination after January 2017 will not need a repeat examination. All students must fill in the Nurse Medication Consent form.

Forms are available for download from the ISB website. ISB Health Services Forms and Resources

Any student with Diabetes, Asthma or Anaphylaxis will also need an action plan filled out by the doctor. Forms are available for download from the ISB website. ISB Health Services Forms and Resources

Kevin Davy

Grade 9
Final exams will arrive before we know it. There will be some in class review but most teachers will also offer additional study / review sessions after school. It is important that students try and take advantage of these opportunities, please encourage them to do so. We also have a learning hub that our students can drop into at any time of the year. Teachers and learning support specialists staff this.

Mr. Davy had shared some resources with students this week in regards to exam preparation and addressing potential anxiety, here is one of the documents:

https://www.ets.org/s/praxis/pdf/reducing_test_anxiety.pdf

Here is also a recent short article shared that reframes ways to look at anxiety leading into an event or exam: http://www.gozen.com/transforming-test-anxiety-with-a-mindset-shift/

Students are also reminded that if they are interested in ISB summer school that they register as soon as possible. We have applications in our office, which require specific signatures, please have your son or daughter pick one up. Here is the link with information: https://www.isb.ac.th/learning-isb/academics/summer-school
Students have received their confirmed course selections for next year.  Be sure to check with your son/daughter and make sure that they have the courses that suit their needs.  Any questions, have them check in with Mr. Davy

FYI – this summer students will keep their computers at home, they do not have to hand them in like last year.

Grade 10
Students have received their list of classes for next year.  Be sure and check with your son/daughter and make sure that they have a schedule that suits their needs.  Any questions, ask your counselor and she/he will take a look.   Just another couple weeks to think about this year and then you can relax and look forward to a break!

Grade 11
These last few weeks can be quite stressful as students manage end of year assignments, assessments and as many students plan for SAT/ACT tests. Many classes will start final exam review soon. Parents should help students find balance in what can be a hectic time ensuring they get plenty of rest and downtime to stay recharged through June 9! Help your student reflect on what has gone well this year and where they’ve met success. This will help students identify what is important to them as they prepare for life after ISB.

11th graders took a self-assessment related to their college planning and identified their personal “to do” list for now through July. Ask them about it! We discussed summer visits to colleges, the need to find balance in Senior year with enjoying what is the final year at home for most students, and making a plan for testing, recommendations, and essay writing. Students have access to resources on Haiku to get them starting to think about how to write for the US and UK.

Grade 12
SENIOR TRANSITION DAY – On Wednesday, June 7 from 7:30-2:00 all seniors are required to participate in Senior Transition Day.

HIGH SCHOOL CLEARANCE FORM (Leaver’s Form) – The High School Clearance Form was due last Friday, May 19.  Several students have not submitted their form yet. A student’s final transcript and diploma will not be issued until the completed Form has been submitted to their counselor.

All students should have received their individual exam schedules through Powerschool (they appear at the top left of the main lookup screen).  If you have not seen it, please log on to Powerschool and ask your son or daughter.

  • June 2017 exams run from Thursday 1st June to Wednesday 8th June.  Wednesday is a grading and makeup day, so students only need to be at ISB if they are taking an exam.
  • There are 3 exam sessions each day which have 7:20, 10:00 and 1:00 start times, except for students with accommodations, who have separate schedules.  Students should arrive at their exam venues 15 minutes early.  Students will not be permitted to leave an exam early.
  • Students are expected to bring pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, ISB ID card, calculator (if required) and a clear water bottle to each exam.
  • Students who do not have an exam on a day may stay at home to study or use our Library for private study.
  • Students can leave school early after an exam by completing an exam early departure form (below) or hard copies can be obtained from the HS Office.  Students will need to have a parent-signed, completed form for each instance they wish to leave campus.
  • Students are expected to take each exam as scheduled.  Students who are sick for an exam must contact the HS office immediately.  Medical certificates MUST be provided.
  • Thursday 9th June and Friday 10th June are exam feedback days where normal attendance is expected.  Teachers will look at group and individual feedback, review mark schemes and success criteria, look at exemplary answers and develop future goals.  School will still finish at 11:30am on Friday following the HS end of year assembly.

It is always sad to say farewell to a number of students from ISB next week and we wish them all the very best as they move on to their next adventure.

All these students MUST complete a Leavers Clearance form before important transition documents can be released to their new schools.  These forms can be collected from a student’s counselor and be returned with all signatures by Thursday 8th June.  If a student has misplaced their form they can see one of the counseling secretaries for a reprint.

If no Clearance Form is received a report card hold will be put in place and no transcript can be issued.  Thank you in advance for your assistance in expediting this process.
